It was a scary, arduous and emotionally draining three weeks for us, not to mention the holes we now have in our pockets. :)

Anyway, surprises where waiting for us back home. My african eyering lovies, Yahoo and Google got hatchlings, I don’t know about the actual breed types of Yahoo(black, cock) and Google(white, hen) though. There were supposed to be three but two died and only one survived. I am now handfeeding him, his name is Converse. Why Converse? When I took him out of his nest, I had no spare cage so I put him temporarily inside a Converse shoebox where he stayed for half a day. He is now happy in his hamster cage. And yeah, Creo and Pestis finally arrived. Will post some of their pictures soon. But check below for a picture of Converse with Pestis.

At around 3PM, my brother-in-law saw her on top of the acacia tree in the church yard in front of our house. She was flitting from tree to tree calling to her partner, Google. Google frantically tried to get out of his cage, so we brought his cage up in our terrace and hung it on the window sill. Yahoo, heard her partner and went closer to where he is. We were waiting for her to get inside the window and close it, we also have a mosquito net at hand to trap her in. It was a long wait but she eventually flew to the top of Google’s cage inside the room and my brother-in-law quickly shut the window and my husband threw the mosquito net on top of her. So Yahoo went inside their cage again and ate and drank, 4PM is feeding time and she’s hungry. She went away at 8AM and came back at 4PM after finding out that the outside world is never fun without someone to share it with.

That, my friends, is the story of my prodigal bird, Yahoo. And below is a picture of Yahoo enjoying her sojourn at the outside world.
