Pacquiao’s magic

Pacman did it again

Crime rates almost down to nil, people staying at home and being with their families, fights are at a standstill and traffic is non-existent. Why? Because today is the day that a lot of people are waiting for. Today, two super heroes face each other. The question is, who will triumph and bring his country to glory and who will leave the ring with his tail between his legs?

I am as of now watching the fight between Pacquiao and De la Hoya live plus the radio blaring in the background and Pacquiao is leading… I am not really a fan of boxing but I have to admit that the excitement sure is infectious…

I am not really sure what it is with boxing and Pacquiao and why people from all walks of life lay down their tasks to opt for a day of staring at the tv screen waiting for Pacquaio to regain the Filipino honor and once again bring us all to glory. People would wait for the fight patiently despite the advertisements peppering the delayed telecasts on tv. Few people get to watch the fight live, you have to pay a hefty sum just for the opportunity to say, “I saw it first”. Hearing it from the radio just isn’t enough, the intensity of the fight is just not there, you have to see it with your own eyes, experience the blow by blow…

Is it magic? Is it charisma? Or are we just trying to get a free ride on the fame that Pacquiao gets everytime he wins a fight, a winning fight is a win for the Philippines and for us Filipino but is this the only way we could get recognition?

Will Pacquiao win? I’ll let you know…

I am happy to tell you that Pacquiao did it again. It took only eight rounds with Dela Hoya’s pretty face all abloom-bruises galore… Pacquaio hugged the boxing post crying and all the bigwigs came up on stage, one gave him a rosary to wear and I saw the Vice-President of the Republic of the Philippines, Mr. Noli de Castro. Now, what exactly is he doing there with all the political turmoil going around in the country?

Anyway, today people are celebrating, bets are won and I lost… yeah, I made a bet against Pacquaio, silly me… :)
