Christmas Internet Blackout

Five whole days of internet blackout for me. We went home to my parents for the Christmas holidays and I decided not to bring my laptop nor visit any internet cafe while I was there and honestly it felt good. I did not really know the extent of my attachment to the internet until that five whole days. I was really busy during the first day and never thought of getting online, the second day, I was thinking of going to an internet cafe to check my emails - I did not. The third day was Christmas day, internet cafes are closed and I am close to giving up. The fourth day was agonizing, I was really itching to check my emails, luckily my little angels saved me by bawling their heads out - turning into little devils to save mommy… The fifth day was really, really hard. We finally arrived home and my laptop is staring me straight in the face tempting me. Again, I did not give in. I have to put the children to sleep and take care of a gazillion and one things before I can sit in front of my laptop and work.

It was a cleansing experience, it cleared my mind and made me ready to tackle new problems again. Now I know that I have to really take some time off so that I can do the things that are more important like taking care of my babies and talking to my husband face to face and not through chat. We actually work side by side, but instead of talking face to face, we chat. It just seemed so convenient but wrong. A face to face conversation beats any iMing service no matter how convenient it may be.

If you are anything like me, I suggest you take some time off to reevaluate your goals or just plain take some time off for yourself with no gadgets, no internet, no work to bother you. Believe me, it will do you good.
